What actually happens · an example

One enquiry, start to finish.

Say a woman in Wivenhoe wants a new kitchen. She's been putting it off for two years.

Tuesday, 9.14pm

She's on the sofa and your ad comes up. She taps it and fills the form in. Postcode, rough budget, when she wants it doing.

8 seconds later

She gets a text. Not "thanks, we'll be in touch". A link to your diary.

9.16pm

She's booked Thursday at 6. You get a notification. You were watching telly.

Thursday

You turn up, measure up, quote her £14,000. That bit's all you.

The week after

She's gone quiet. She gets a nudge. Then another one 5 days later. You don't lift a finger.

3 weeks on

She signs.

What it cost you

The same £750 as a month where nothing landed, plus what you gave Meta for the ad she tapped. Nothing changes because she signed.

The same Tuesday, without any of it

  1. 9.14pm · she fills in a form on your website
  2. Wednesday, 7pm · you spot the email. You've been on site since 7am
  3. Thursday · you ring. No answer
  4. Friday · you forget

She booked someone else on Wednesday morning.

What it's worth

A month's ad spend in. 3 bathrooms out.

£24,000

12 enquiries in a month, 3 of them turn into work, £8,000 a job ex VAT. What you paid me for that month is £750, the same as a month where nothing landed. Your own costs and what you gave Meta come out of the rest.

The only extra cost of running ads is what you give Meta. I earn the same whether the ads are on or off, which is why I'll only tell you to run them when your numbers say they'll pay.

Made-up numbers to show the shape of it, not a forecast. A 25% close rate is higher than I plan on. Yours come out of the first call.

How long it runs

Month to month from day one. One month's notice, whenever you like, no reason needed and nothing to pay to leave.

The one thing I'll ask you to commit to is the ads, if we run them: two months at £500 a month. In a lot of trades it takes 6 to 10 weeks for an enquiry to turn into a signed job, so a fortnight of ads proves nothing either way.

How we'd work together

My job. Your job.

This only works if we both do our bit. Here's exactly what that means, so neither of us is guessing.

What I doWhat you do
Build the ads and run them properly, when you want themIf we run ads, fund them and give them two months
Answer every enquiry in seconds, day or nightTurn up to the appointments they book
Chase anyone who goes quietDo the selling once you're in front of them

On the ad budget, honestly

£500 a month for two months. That's the least that tells us anything, and we'll sanity check it against what a job's actually worth to you on the call.

The one thing I'd say is that a small budget spread thin doesn't work. Facebook needs a certain number of conversions each week before it knows who your buyers are, and under that it just dribbles away. I'll do that sum with you on the call rather than guess at it here.

Then leave it alone. Chopping the budget in month one because nothing's landed yet is the most expensive thing you can do. You'll have paid for the slow part and stopped right before the part that pays you back.

And be blunt with me. If the enquiries are rubbish, say so. If you think I'm not earning it, say that too. I'd rather have an awkward 10 minutes than find out in month 3 that you've gone off it.

I'll do the same. If your close rate is the problem rather than the ads, I'm going to tell you.

Straight with you

I'm new at this.

I haven't got a wall of case studies and I'm not going to invent some. What I have got is a system I will build and test for you before a penny of ad spend goes out, and the sense to tell you if your numbers don't work.

So the next 3 firms don't pay the setup. £0 to build it, the same £750 a month as everyone after, and in return I get to use the real results.

Next 3 clientsNo setup fee. Same monthly as everyone else£0 setup

One firm per trade, per area. I won't run ads for the bloke down the road as well.

Is it for you

Who this suits.

Kitchens, bathrooms, windows, extensions, air conditioning. Anything where the money comes from the customer rather than a middleman.

There is more on what the numbers need to look like, and if you are flat out already, that one is worth a read.

Get in touch

Ten minutes on the phone.

No pitch. I'll ask what a job's worth to you once everything's paid, and whether you could handle more of them. If it's not a fit I'll say so and you've lost ten minutes.

Pick a time that suits you below. You'll get a reminder the day before, and it'll be me ringing, not a call centre.
